Haute Find: Noir Jewelry
Flipping through the latest issue of Harper’s Bazar, I came across the last ring pictured above. HAUTE! Huh? Come to find out, it was from Noir Jewelry. After visiting the site I realized that some of the jewelry is offered on Anthropologie.com, and I have been eying it for about a year now. The items are all quite amazingly rocker chic. You may have seem some of them on my celebrity style twins Amber Rose, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Alicia Keys. Chanel Iman has also been spotted wearing a Noir piece. All of the jewelry is moderately priced, just within my budget’s reach.

New Virtual Boutique on Read My Lips!

I decided to create my very own VIRTUAL BOUTIQUE here on Read My Lips! It includes a collection of new, gently used and vintage pieces that I think you’ll love. I still have quite of few pieces to add. And, once I get my new camera for Christmas (wink wink), I will put some looks together with some of the pieces, rather than just hanging each individual piece up, because that’s kind of boring…
The links to the items and purchasing instructions are in the sidebar. Here’s a question for you:

DIY Embellished Tights Project Update
Here is an update on the progress of the DIY project I started a couple of weeks ago.

Of course, I started by gathering all of the necessary materials: Tights, needle and thread, and sequins.

Then, I separated the sequins, because I couldn’t use all of what was in the bag. I decided on the stars.

Sewing wasn’t bad, but it seemed like every time I got in the groove, the thread would run out. Tip 1: use a piece of cardboard, or the like, to give the tights some structure while sewing. The cardboard also prevents the needle from going through the other side of the tights, therefore sewing them together.

Ta-daaah! So far good, but I do want to add a few more stars and some beads. Tip 2: take some time in the beginning to figure out a color combination. In retrospect, I think I would have chosen to go with fewer colors on the stars.
Free People has some sequin-embellished tights here for $88. Mine cost a total of about $20, not including labor. I will definitely post the final project.
Weekend DIY Project: Bead Embellished Tights
I have abosolutely NOTHING planned for this weekend. So, I figured I will have plenty of time to work on a DIY project that I’ve had in the back of my mind- a pair of embellished tights like the ones pictured below and spotted all over the runways for fall fashion o9. I think I already have everything I need: a pair of opeque tights (in like 8 different colors, because I am an over-consumer…don’t know which color to choose…) and lots of embellishments (left over from another DIY project that ended up being a flop). Wish me luck!

Cocktails

These pictures are old (I had natural hair and I think I had just descovered blush), but I thought of them when I saw this picture of Rihanna wearing a fur stole. Everyone who knows me knows that I die for my fur stole.
We have soooo many memories, me and that scarf. I pull it out every fall and wear it everyday til spring.
One of my friends calls it my “cocktail” (because it multi-colored. maybe I can get some better pictures this year).
Another friend almost saw me have a heart attack one time after I left it behind in the movie theatre. He went back to go get it for me while I waited in the car. When came back saying it wasn’t there, and I about died. He was joking.
It smells like me. So, every time someone picks it up, they’re always like: “mmm. this smells so good.”
You’ll never guess where I got it. Lane Bryant. About 5 years ago for $30.
It’s starting to bald in places, and so I started looking for a replacement several years ago.
I don’t think I will ever be able to part with it.
Unless I find a more fabulous replacement. HELP!
Shoe-gasm
My friend and I were chatting the other day. We had quite a bit of catching up to do and in between breaths she says, “I bought a pair of red bottoms.”
I’m jealous.
I want some!
Aarrrrgh!
I can’t recall ever spending over $220 on a pair of shoes before. And while I’m still not quite prepared to spend a month’s rent on an shoe-gasm, I am about a click away from spending half a month’s on these:

*side note* I am getting (hoping for) a dslr camera for Christmas, so if everyone could bare with me until then, I promise it will be worth the wait. Until then, I will keep you as entertained as possible with barrowed visuals.
Spotted: Duffle Coats for Fall
At the end of last winter season, I knew that I needed a coat for this fall. I couldn’t find the right one then, so I’ve been looking intensively since the end of last season. One thing I notice was that toggle/duffle coats were appearing everywhere. Take a look.
